Round vs Linking Balloons

Round balloons and linking balloons are the two most commonly used types of balloons in party decorations, and they are also our factory’s best-selling styles.

If you want to learn about the differences between these two types of balloons, as well as their uses and pros and cons, please refer to this article.

Round Balloons

Round balloons are the most classic and commonly used type of balloon in party decorations; they are also known as standard latex balloons.

When inflated, these round latex balloons maintain a uniform shape with even tension and resist deformation. Suitable for a wide range of party occasions, events, and celebrations, they are a versatile staple for party decorations.

When paired with balloon chains, round latex balloons make it easy to create balloon archways. Every balloon arch kit produced by The NiuN® Balloon Factory comes with balloon chains to help you build your arch. Combining round balloons of different sizes adds depth and dimension to your archway.

Compared to linking balloons, round balloons are more affordable and offer better value for money.

Linking Balloons

Linking balloons, also known as tail balloons, are characterized by a knot-ready tail at the end of each balloon. This allows multiple balloons to be connected simply by tying them together, eliminating the need for additional tools like balloon chains. They are specifically designed for creating balloon chains, garlands, and arches.

Linking balloons allow for efficient assembly, enabling the rapid creation of smooth, flowing balloon backdrops or balloon arches.

Stringing together linking balloons of the same color and size creates a neater overall effect.

Purchasing Recommendations

If you wish to purchase round balloons or linking balloons, we recommend prioritizing high-elasticity latex balloons with a thickness of ≥0.18mm. This information is clearly listed in the product details of each balloon in our store to facilitate your purchasing process.

When inflating, be careful not to overinflate them; 85–95% inflation is sufficient. Overinflation may cause them to burst.

If you would like more information, please feel free to send us an inquiry.

We can recommend the most suitable balloon types, sizes, and quantities based on your specific sales scenarios and intended uses.

FAQ

Can round balloons and linked balloons be used together?

Yes. You can use linked balloons to build the basic framework for balloon chains or arches, then fill in the gaps with round balloons to add depth. This combination creates designs with both smooth lines and a full, voluminous visual effect.

Can linked balloons only be used for long, linear designs?

No. In addition to balloon chains and arches, linker balloons can also be used in the same way as round balloons, such as inflating a single balloon to create a table decoration.

Is there a difference in how long they float?

There isn’t much of a difference. When the material, size, and handling methods are the same, there isn’t a significant difference in how long they float with helium. The main factors affecting float time are balloon size and ambient temperature.

Which type of balloon should beginners prioritize when decorating a party?

For basic table decorations or balloon bouquets, round balloons are the better choice due to their versatility. If you need to create structures like arches or balloon chains, connected balloons are preferable—they require no additional tools and significantly reduce the difficulty for beginners.

Is there a significant cost difference between the two when purchasing in bulk?

The difference is minimal. For round balloons and linker balloons of the same material and size, the cost difference is negligible; linker balloons are only slightly more expensive than round balloons.
